About the Artist
Mary Shoen is a multi-disciplinary performance artist who creates art as a somatic transmission. Shoen’s work navigates the intersection of the visible with the invisible by amplifying tension in the body in space. Through transfiguration of the human form, Shoen portrays violence and trauma as a visceral experience. Shoen uses primal elemental materials to confront the grotesque and the sublime.
Shoen graduated from Naropa University in 2022 with a Bachelors in Visual Arts.
Shoen is a trained dancer, jazz singer, and visual artist.
